Fee Structure
Stepping Stone Advisors is a fee only Financial Life Planning firm. We do not sell any products nor receive commissions of any kind. Our fee structure is transparent and fair, eliminating conflicts of interest and aligning our work with the results you want.
Stepping Stone Advisors charges its fees based upon the complexity of your situation with a focus on gross income and net worth. Therefore our fee structure is determined by a combination of these two components of each client.
Income Component
We charge 1.25% of gross income through $500,000;
0.75% of gross income between $500,001 through $1,500,000;
and 0.50% of gross income between $1,500,001 and up.
Net Worth Component
We charge 0.5% on net worth up to $2,500,000;
0.25% of net worth from $2,500,001 through $10,000,000;
and 0.10% of net wroth from $10,000,001 and up.
There is a minimum annual fee of $1,200.
The initial quarterly fee at the start of a planning engagement is split into two payments. The first half quarterly fee is due at engagement, and the second half of the first quarterly fee is due at the end of the quarter. Fees there after are charged quarterly in arrears. Stepping Stone Advisors does offer a monthly billing option.
Fee Example 1
For a client who makes $100,000 gross income and $150,000 net worth.
Income component: $100,000 x 1.25% = $1,250
Net worth component: $150,000 x 0.50% = $750
Total Annual Fee: $1,250 + $750 = $2,000
Fee Example 2
For a client who makes $100,000 gross income and -$50,000 net worth.
Income component: $95,000 x 1.25% = $1,187.50
Net worth component: Not calculated due to negative net worth
Calculated Annual Fee: $1,187.50 + $0 = $1,187.50 (Below minimum fee)
Minimum Annual Fee Charged: $1,200
Fee Example 3
For a client who makes $700,000 gross income and $3,000,000 net worth.
Income component through $500,000: $500,000 x 1.25% = $6,250
Income component from $500,001 through $700,000: $200,000 x 0.75% = $1,500
Net worth component through $2,500,000: $2,500,000 x 0.50% = $12,500
Net worth component from $2,500,000 through $3,000,000: $500,000 x 0.25% = $1,250
Total Annual Fee: $6,250 + $1,500 + $12,000 + $1,250 = $21,000
